New art (sort of!)

Well, I'm only three months late, but I've finally posted my contribution to last year's sga_art_santa in my fic & art journal.
*face palm*
My recipient was the lovely mella68  who has a fondness for historical AUs & McShep - two of my favourite things!
So, I decided to go for a romantic 1920s piece that was also quite festive (lots of snow. *g*)

Note: The boys aren't necessarily Lord John & Rodney from Time & Tide - but they certainly could be! *g*

Making GIFs?

Sorry for being Spammy McSpamster today - it's a mood swing kind of thing. *g*

So, my head is too messed up to write or make graphics, but I've been looking for a certain GIF with no luck - & so I thought maybe I could just make my own.
Unfortunately, I don't know how & Googling it brings up seventy billion tutorials which all seem to involve me needing certain software or something else (like a functioning brain, perhaps. *g*)
But, anyway - can anyone link me to a really simple step-by-step tutorial on making a GIF please?
I've got a Mac & already have Photoshop CS5.  I also DLed Gimp the other day (so I could resize some GIFs made by other much cleverer folk) but I have no idea if I can use this to make my own. (Some tutorials talked about needing GAP for Gimp & I have no idea what that is/how to obtain it/how to install it on a Mac.)

Maybe this is all beyond my medicated cognitive processes? *g*
