23 Dec 2014 05:03 pmPhew! Just finished wrapping the last of the presents & icing the Xmas cake. Tomorrow will be spent with food prep for The Big Day (& then an evening watching Fellowship of the Ring as we begin our annual festive LotR marathon. Woot!)

He's loving his Advent calendar (as usual! *g*)
This year, the little chocolate slabs have embossed images on them - so far we've had a bauble & Santa!
Here he is waiting patiently for today's window to be opened this morning. ♥
On the subject of festive things, I got kudos from a story on AO3 earlier that I couldn't even remember writing. So, I read it, & it made me smile all over again. LOL

Something else that I always associate with the holidays - Lord of the Rings! I've really enjoyed watching the vids from The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies world premiere in London last night.
I can't wait to see it! We'll be rewatching the extended editions of Unexpected Journey & Desolation of Smaug before we go, & then at Xmas it's our annual rewatch of the LotR trilogy. I love it!

Buddy's Xmas Tea Party!
30 Dec 2013 11:16 amYesterday, Bud hosted a tea party to help raise funds for the Labrador Rescue South East & Central (who brought him to us), & we managed to raise £60! \o/

lantean_drift, saffron_1 & battyoldflapper came, too & there was much laughing, chatting, tea drinking, cake eating & Bud worshipping! *g*
Here's the Budster 'working hard' to entertain his guests... LOL
He was a bit partied out at that point as he had had to leap about & give everyone big snuggles as they arrived. *g* (Not to mention all of the 'baking supervision' that he'd been doing for the past couple of days. *g*)

We had a lovely time with family on Christmas Day, & Bud had so much fun opening & playing with his presents! *g*
And then it was all a bit too much for him & a nap was in order! LOL
We've had pretty much constant rain, so there have been a lot of long & wet (& muddy!) walks but then it's all the nicer to come back home & get warm & dry (& have a nice mince pie & a cuppa!)

I'm afraid I couldn't get him to pose by the tree (he just kept wagging The Tail of Doom & scattering ornaments to the far corners! LOL)
So here he is looking very put upon to be having his picture taken (again!!) in front of the hearth by his stocking.
I bought new lights to use as a garland on the mantle this year. They're handmade Italian glass with little sparkly leaves that reminded me very much of Lothlorien. :)
As usual, we have a few new fannish decorations for the tree, so I thought I'd take some pics of them especially.

Keeping in the festive frame of mind, here's a sweet holiday film starring Jared.
It has a really good cast & is based on the early life of the artist Thomas Kincaid. (doylebaby I thought of you! *g*)
It's very sweet & Jared is wonderful as Kincaid.

Bud was especially excited opening all of his presents (& then trying to open ours, too!) ♥
( It was like Xmas exploded all over the lounge… )
I won't be around much for the next few days as I have to go into hospital - again. *groan* It's an exploratory procedure & should only be for a day, but it's a general anaesthetic & they say they may need to keep me in. Hopefully, that won't happen! *fc*

15 Dec 2011 03:40 pmI actually put our decorations up early this year (in honour of xanthelj's visit last week *g*) but have only just got around to taking some pics.
Here's my helpful assistant who also supervised* the putting up of the tree.
*translation: generally got in the way, sniffed the contents of every box, rolled around on the tree branches while I was trying to put it together, knocked globes onto the floor, etc, etc... *g*
