I'm getting packed to go away for my annual writing weekend.
I've known this group of lovely ladies for years & years, & this is always a fun time.
I'm not an active writer anymore - I just about manage to write my requisite story for the weekend - but I still love discussing writing, characters, plot development, etc.  Plus, I just love spending time with friends!
So, this definitely a 'happy'! *g*

I haven't written anything in age - although I must write something very soon (i.e. for an end of June deadline!!!) to submit for the annual writing weekend that I go to every September. (It's just not as much fun attending, if I haven't submitted a story.)

So, I was up at 2am this morning having failed at getting to sleep & was online shopping on Amazon - buying earmuffs, as you do - when I got an email about some kudos on a story that I couldn't actually remember writing from the title.
So I followed the link & re-read it.  I have the usual British reticence about saying anything good about myself, but I actually thought it was pretty good.  I haven't been able to write anything in so long & it was really nice to remind myself what I used to be able to do.

I have a story that I've been working on on & off this year.  It's only short - a companion piece to my vampire!Rodney story.  If I can polish it up in time, I'll try & post it as a little Christmas offering.

And in a festive frame of mind, I've been doing lots of baking (as usual!) & wanted to rec this gorgeous & easy recipe for mince pies from The Great British Bake-Off's Paul Hollywood:

I also added a splash of brandy to the mincemeat as well as apple & satsuma. ;)

For the past few years, I've done an 'SGA Advent' where I post something (a story or piece of art or a fanmix) every day from Dec 1st - 24th. I've loved doing it, despite there being a lot of work in creating 24 fics/graphics/etc, & have enjoyed the fun of getting into the holiday spirit.
Unfortunately, I won't be doing my Advent this year - I'm still struggling with some health problems & am having a tough time being creative. I have managed to finish my contribution to this year's sga_art_santa though & am currently working on my piece for h5o_art_santa, so that's something.
I do have a little McShep AU that I'd love to write - I'm hoping that I can do it in time & post it as a holiday gift for my flist. *fc*

So, sorry for the lack of my Advent. :(

Hmmm, I could have sworn that I had something else to say but my memory is like a sieve these days. (I think it's related to this abrupt shift into menopause after the op. Well, I hope that's what it is! *g*)

Okay, I'm struggling to make anything work for my sheppard_hc exchange fic.
I've had several ideas - none of which have made it beyond a few scribbled notes - & I've finally realised something... I don't really write h/c. A fact that seemed to have slipped my mind when I signed up for this challenge.
*sigh*

I do angst, humour, romance, etc - but I'm not really a specific h/c writer.
I think I'm going to have to acknowledge that & write something that's probably more comfort than hurt & just really hope that my recipient likes it. (If my recipient is reading this - though you won't know you're my recipient, of course - my apologies. I'm going to try really hard.)

I haven't been writing much lately (stupid health issues... grrr) & what I have has been mainly H5-O.
I must knuckle down to my Sheppard H/C challenge fic, but I think I need to 'flex' my John & Rodney voices first. *g*

I haven't been able to concentrate to write lately & then a totally insistent Danny popped into my head earlier & refused to shut up until I'd written a little snippet.
