I haven't been online for the last few days (hiking the Stiperstones, taking Bud to the beach, broadband dropping out, etc, etc *g*) so I hadn't realised that the results were up for this year's GateFic Awards. Luckily, the lovely hildejohanne & sgamadison were on the ball & emailed me to say 'go & look'!

There were so many amazing stories & pieces of art - congrats to everyone who won & to all the nominees! What a lovely celebration of our shared passion.
I was especially pleased to see sgamadison's wonderful 'Second Verse' being recognised in the novel length AU category! This is my absolute favourite of her stories. ♥

And if that wasn't enough - Team Sheppard has won this year's mcshep_match!

My current fandom obligations status:

+ mcshep_match art is done! \o/ I just need to sort out the submission info & send it in. Go, Team Sheppard! *\o/*
I had so much fun with the prompt I got. Hee! Hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.
Hmmm, I wonder if anyone will be able to guess which piece is mine? *g*

+ sheppard_hc exchange story has kicked my bum all over the place but the first draft is nearly complete (today, I hope. *fc*)

+ I think I'm going to have to pull out of atlantisbigbang as the prompt claiming dates have been shifted to accommodate the authors (which I can understand, of course, but now they don't work for me). So, claiming now falls while we're away on holiday. The mods have kindly offered to claim a story for me, but that would mean me having no real choice (you know how it is, you need to read the summaries, etc for yourself.) I've taken part in the last 3 big bangs (all 3 as an artist plus the last 2 as an author, too) so it's a shame, but I don't think I can work around it. :(

+ The SGA Art Shindig & the Five-O Fiesta have both been completed. \o/

+ Also saw a teeny, tiny glimpse of DHew in the new Planet of the Apes trailer. Yay!
I won't be watching the film though - the original film freaked me out so badly as a kid that I've never watched another! Daft, I know - but that's me! *g* In fact, I only skipped to the DHew bit of the trailer!

+ Thanks to anyone who voted in the mcshep_match icon challenge. Unfortunately, Team Sheppard (my team!) didn't win, but it was a close run contest & all the submissions were so great. Congrats to Team McKay on their win.

+ I spent all of yesterday afternoon uninstalling/installing/restoring stuff on my PC because of a problem with logging in (& staying logged in, thank you very much!) to my LJ. Just checked at LJ help & apparently it's on their end. *sigh* I should have checked there first! D-oh! In my defence, I'd recently updated some software & thought that was the issue.

+ And all of this is part of me procrastinating & not doing what I should be.

Okay, so it looks like I may have signed up as an artist for this year's mcshep_match.
*face palm*
How did that happen?
I've been in SGA fandom for years (before there even was a McShep Match - yes, yes, & I can remember when it was all fields around here, too *g*) & have never taken part & now, somehow, I've signed up. LOL
I'm on Team Sheppard. It's a random assignment, & from what I understand, the idea isn't to pit Rodney against John - it's just something to name the teams. Which is good because in my world view, the boys are always together (& happy & in love!) ♥
I must admit that I don't know many of the names on my team, but I'm sure it'll be fun.

I really need to get all these challenge ducks in a row.

In other news, we saw X-Men: First Class last night. It was awesome!
