Malvern Half
8 Jun 2009 12:05 pmMr B & I ran the Malvern Half-Marathon yesterday.
It was tipping it down when we got there (we've had torrential rain here since Friday) & so cold.
We stood about like drowned rats on the start line & I just couldn't get my muscles to stay warm. Luckily it eased off a bit & did actually stop about 10 mins into the race (of course we were soaked by then!) It brightened up & we saw a bit of sun at times too, so that wasn't too bad. But I'd been so badly chilled at the start that it took me a while to get warm & I can feel it a bit today - nothing major but my quads are sore due to starting so cold, I think.
I managed to do it in 2h 15m - it's not my best time but I'm quite pleased, considering. It was about an average of 10m 20s per mile.
It was a really gorgeous route though the weather & remoteness meant there weren't too many spectators. The ones that were there were great & much appreciated - it's amazing what a boost a cheer & a 'keep going' can be. *g*
I can't find Mr B's medal - I think he's taken it to school to show the kids - but here's Bud modelling mine. Well, I use the word modelling quite loosely. *g* I'm afraid that Bud doesn't model like Rascal used to - he's more interested in chewing the ribbon!
Here he is - with Barney the Bear too. *g*

We ran to raise money for Cancer Research UK - thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored us, & for all the support & virtual cheers!
*hugs*
