bluespirit: (SGA Big Bang)
Hello!
Bet you're surprised to see me. *g*
We're home!
We had really bad weather (not that unexpected, I suppose in the Lake District) & Bud didn't settle very well, so after getting wet one too many times (I mean 'soaked to the skin, dry all your clothes & your boots by the fire soaked'!) we decided to come home a couple of days early. We have enjoyed it & the Lake District is truly spectacular - the cottage was beautiful - we'll definitely go again. Bud just seemed very unsettled by the whole experience of being in a new place though - he had this low level of stress that would get worse when we went out. I think there was so much stimulus - ducks! sheep! lakes! rainstorms! - & it overwhelmed him. Plus I think he was maybe thinking that this was another move to a new home & people, & we'd leave him in this new place. It's easy to forget that he has only been with us for 3 months.
He was great off the lead - clearly having a whale of a time - but he was really pulling on the lead which just isn't like him, he's usually a dream to walk.
But we will persevere & do this again - it was his first holiday ever plus he's still settling in (though it seems he's adapted so well). This change really threw him & it'll obviously take time for him to realise that we can go other places & he's still safe & won't get passed onto new people! Poor baby. But he did love running on the beach & going in the lakes & snuffling round the woods, so that part was really good - I'll post pics & vid when I've sorted them out. :-)

And despite what Miss [livejournal.com profile] lantean_drift might say, we didn't come home early just beacuse of the [livejournal.com profile] sgabigbang! LOL

Yay - it's live!

I was honoured to create two pieces of art to accompany [livejournal.com profile] the_cephalopod's beautiful McShep novel 'Down to Sleep'.
This is a fabulous story taking the idea that Rodney was the one affected by the crystal alien in Doppelganger, not John.

Here's cep's summary:
As the Atlantis expedition reels from their narrow escape from the Replicators, their re-location to a new planet and the loss of their commander, Team Sheppard is also attempting to deal the internal fractures which have developed. After mistakes made in the heat of conflict, John and Rodney manage to broker an uneasy peace. Will their fragile relationship be strong enough to deal with the latest threat that Pegasus appears to now be throwing at them or will their worst fears succeed in destroying them completely?

It's 63,880 words of absolute brilliance - do go & read & tell cep how fabulous she is.

I chose to illustrate one particularly 'guh-worthy' scene with a John piece called 'Threat assessment' & an intimate moment between John & Rodney with 'True kiss'. (Just click on the thumbnail images to see the full-sized piece.)

I can't wait to go through & look at all the art & save the stories for a good, long read.
Please do leave feedback for the artists & authors.

And a huge thank you to all the mods for organising this incredible event.
