It's done!
7 May 2010 09:05 amI had my knee surgery yesterday, & the initial results look good - the surgeon was able to release my patella so that it's now back in the correct place, & he also found no damage to the bone which is excellent!
\o/
It was a long day (made longer by a delay with something in the surgery list prior to my op) & I didn't go down to the theatre until much later than planned. However, it all seemed to go smoothly & I was back in my room drowsing in & out by about 3ish. Unfortunately the blood pressure cuff was set to check every 5 mins & so it kept waking me up! LOL
There was a slight problem as my knee began to bleed quite badly & soaked through the ultra thick compression bandage & went all over the bed (it was like a horror film! *g*) So they had to redress that. It has bled a little more overnight but not too badly. I have to keep the dressing on now until I go back & see the surgeon in a weekish. I also get to wear a pair of gorgeous & super-stylish white compression stockings to avoid DVT. *g* I'm also seeing the physio on Monday & have a set of exercises that I'm working on.
I don't know yet when I'll be able to run again, but I'm planning to walk around the house today & hopefully go out with Mr B & Bud this evening for a short stroll. I'm looking forward to seeing the consultant again & he can tell me more about my return to running, etc.
I'm feelinga bit very queasy, but that's a side-effect of the antibiotics that they've given me. It's only a 3 day course & so hopefully that'll wear off soon. *fc*
Thank you so, so much for all the good wishes & hugs - & the anon. gift of virtual milk & cookies! ♥
It really means a lot to me - thank you. You're just the best!
*hugs*
