Mr B & I had a lovely weekend in London.
We did our usual mooch around Forbidden Planet, etc on the Saturday - plus a fascinating (& slightly ghoulish) exhibition of 'Exquisite Bodies' at the Wellcome Collection. It was subtiled 'or the curious & grotesque story of the anatomical model' & was really excellent. It finishes this month, but I can really rec it.
Then a nice, big pasta meal on the evening to get carbed-up ready for the half on Sunday morning.

The race was absolutely lovely - it began in Hyde Park & we ran down to Buckingham Palace, into St. James's Park & along to Parliament. We ran out onto Westminster Bridge & then turned back & headed along the Embankment. It was brilliant - Big Ben struck 10 as we ran past. We ran up to Blackfriar's Bridge & then turned back along the Embankment, up Whitehall & into Trafalgar Square. We headed under the Admiralty Arch & along The Mall, back to Buck Pal & up Constitution Hill into Hyde Park again. The course then took a lot of twists & turns before eventually leading into Kensington Gardens & then the final home straight past the Albert Hall & the Albert Memorial & then the finish! Yay!

We took it at a nice, easy pace & just concentrated on enjoying the whole spectacle, but I was still pleased with our time of 2:15. (Mr B ran with me rather than haring off at his much faster pace!)

This was the biggest event we've ever taken part in (15,000 runners) & it was an amazing experience. There were so many people cheering us on & shouting out our names (we had our names on our tee shirts.) I felt like a celebrity! LOL As we were running to raise funds for the Labrador Rescue (where we got Buddy) I wore a pair of black furry ears & a tail. I got lots of great comments about them - including some little kids shouting 'doggy, doggy!'. *g*

Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored us - it means so much to us & the wonderful volunteers at the Lab Rescue. It costs over £270 to rehome each dog & they take in more than one dog a day. I'm thrilled that we've already raised enough to cover the costs of finding one dog a forever home. There's still time if you'd like to contribute - every Pound helps. ♥

Here's a pic of Bud 'modelling' my medal (Mr B has taken his to school.)

And here's a pic of me in the ears & tail!

look if you dare... *g* )

So, it was a smashing weekend & we got the train home tired but happy. ♥
