Buddy Potter & the Runner's Medal
7 Sep 2008 04:14 pmI ran in the Adidas Women's 5K Challenge this morning.
We've been having torrential rain the last few days but luckily it was mainly dry with just a little rain for the race.
This is my first race since getting injured, so I just took it nice & steady & concentrated on enjoying myself - which I did. However, I miraculously managed a time of 29:20 too - only 5 secs off my 5K pb! LOL I have no idea how that happened & could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the race clock (I hadn't been checking my own watch as I ran so had no idea of the time.)
I was running to raise money for The Blue Cross animal charity & want to say a huge thank you to everyone who's supported me.
This was also my first race since Buddy came into our lives & so I was wondering how he'd be at modelling my medal. Rascal was always an absolute star & would wear my medals perfectly happily. Bud? Well, not so much. ;-) He was more interested in nibbling on the ribbon & licking the medal! *g*
Here are a couple of pics that I managed to snap before rescuing my medal from the jaws of doom. ;-)
You can really see where that barbed wire caught him the other day. Thank goodness it wasn't an inch over - it could have had his eye out. Luckily it just took the fur off & left a graze - there's no actual cut/wound & he's completely oblivious to it. We've been calling him Buddy Potter, poor baby! Though he didn't manage to use any spells to fetch the newspaper upstairs for us yesterday morning, despite Mr B's "paper transportius!" suggestion! *g*
