Just call me Kal-El *g*
8 Nov 2007 08:43 amI broke the tap in the kitchen yesterday - quite literally snapped the thing off in my hand.
lantean_drift thinks I may be Superman. *g*
Unfortunately it's a mixer tap & so there was no way to get water for important stuff - like cups of tea - without traipsing upstairs & using the tap in the bathroom.
Luckily we're covered by an emergency policy & the guy on the phone agreed that no tea was definitely an emergency (okay, he may have talked about no access to drinking water & that being a health issue or something.) Anyway, a plumber arrived at 5pm & replaced the tap (though he had to angle-grind the old one off & the kitchen was then covered in a sparkling layer ofstardust copper filings.) But it's fixed! Let there be tea - huzzah!
The assignments were issued for
sga_santa yesterday but mine hasn't arrived. :-( I've notified the mods & hopefully it'll come through soon.
I'm flying out to the US for Thanksgiving next week & probably won't get much chance to write while I'm there (too much squeeing, shopping & eating!) so I really need as much time as I can get. *g*
Does anyone know how to get the smell of cigarette smoke out of paper (more specifically, zines?) I'm a non-smoker & am really sensitive to the smell. I loaned out some McShep zines & unfortunately they've come back with a strong smell of cigarettes. :-( I know baking soda is supposed to work but I haven't had much luck with that. I currently have the zines in a bag with a Sanctuary room freshener - the problem is trying to air out every single page.
Nominations close tomorrow (9th) in this year's McKay/Sheppard Awards.
You can nom fic, art, song vids & there's also a category for hewligan (oh, hey there Mike&Gus! *g*)
