Rascal Update

I've just spoken to the vet & Rascal's bloodwork is pretty much okay - the levels for his liver & kidney functions are a little high but nothing to be worried about considering his age & his blood cells are normal. Thank goodness - I'd been thinking all kinds of things!
So she thinks the weight loss may be due to a bacterial overgrowth in his gut - basically the wrong kinds of bacteria growing in the wrong parts of his gut. So she's going to prescribe a long term course of antibiotics to try to get things back to normal.
Unfortunately there were no appointments available today so we'll be taking him in to see her tomorrow afternoon. Also, when we were there with him on Tuesday she noticed a lump in one of his testes & she wants to check that out more fully. She's suggested surgery but wants to be sure because of his age.
So overall I feel really relieved. It's not as bad as it could've been & it looks like it's treatable. I'll feel completely happy once we've seen the vet tomorrow & got the treatment started but this is a definite improvement on the worry of the last couple of days. :-)
