Quick tech question

I have an eBook which I load fic onto saved as html docs.
I have several stories by various authors that are Adobe pdf files.
I've tried copying & pasting the contents into an html doc but it all comes out like gobbledygook.
Does anyone know how to transfer a pdf to an html file please? :-)
