I have a lot of pics, so many that I bought a portable HD just for storing pics & the photomanips that I make.
I noticed yesterday that there were some problems trying to access some of the folders - it would take ages to open, fail to open, etc.
I tried running a virus scan - everything was fine. Then doing a disc check - it kept stalling.
It then intermittently said the HD wasn't even there!
I ran Norton Systemworks - it froze up - still no joy.
So, this morning it's reading the HD again (hooray!) but several folders of pics have either vanished completely or are now empty. Nooooooooo! My lovely, lovely pics - all gone!

All my Pros manip masters are gone. :-(
Plus all the LotR related 'events' folders - the premieres for all 3 films & any other related group events. Pics that I've been collecting for the last 4 years. Pics of our lovely boys cuddling each other & larking about & having fun.

I'm wavering between crying & just throwing the HD through the window.
I don't understand where the pics have gone, how could they just disappear?
*sniffle*

I need to find something romantic & lovely to read.
I'm going to drown my sorrows in slashy gorgeous men loving each other.

EDIT: Just spotted that pecos has posted a new installment in her Sidi series 'The Luckiest Dog in the World'. Oh, thank goodness - I really need this lovely fic. :-)

EDIT 2: Omg!!!! I've been fiddling about uninstalling & reinstalling drivers, running disc scans, virus scans & god know what else I could think of all day & nothing was working! I've rebooted so many times my head is spinning.
Anyway, I've just clicked on my LotR events folder & they're back!
All my lovely, lovely pics are back!
I could cry!
I have no idea where they went but I'm just glad they've come home. (g)
Plus ckr sent me the masters of my Pros manips (she had them for the zines) & so apart from a few odd folders that are still missing I've recovered virtually everything!
*squeeeeeeeeeeeee*

I'm now going to back everything up onto my 2nd PC in case this should ever happen again. :-)
