Some think-y thoughts... or an excuse to look at pics of gorgeous men (image heavy)

So, this is one of my absolute favourite pics of John.
It just sends shivers through me.
*guh*

John...

Then I noticed this...

Steve...

This pic of Steve sends exactly the same delicious shivers of guhness through me!

It got me thinking about the similarities between these two.

They're both honourable, duty-bound, military men who fight for what's right & save the galaxy and/or put bad guys away. And neither of them likes sticking to the rules.

They have family issues but care about the people who they've adopted as family...

They don't really talk about their feelings - but it doesn't mean they don't have them...

They can be kind of goofy...

They look really good without a shirt! (John's a bit shy but Steve doesn't have that problem... seriously, he takes it off. Every. Episode! *guh*)

They each have a scientist and/or partner...

Who's loud, talks a lot (usually with their hands, too) & who some and/or most people find irritating (though they both actually have a heart of gold)...

Rodney...

Danny...

They both look great in uniform...

And they're both hopelessly, head-over-heels in love...

So, in conclusion?
Well, I kind of got distracted by all the hotness, but basically - these guys are gorgeous & I love them! *g*
Sorry, if you were looking for in-depth analysis & well-reasoned argument, I lost that about the time John & Steve took their shirts off! ;)

S and I had a conversation last night about how the Steve/Danno relationship is similar to the John/Rodney.
I think it pretty much came down to '*flail* they're both so frickin hot!!'

There are a lot of similarities, aren't there? I mean, they're not identical but there are definite character traits in common. Of course, I'm not trying to sound all academic about it - they are just totally hot, too!

Thank you for this post! I'd only gotten as far as both are HOT leader types, and John and Steve both have teams consisting of three guys and a girl. *g* This is so much better thought out, well, you know, as thought out as a girl can get when "researching" HOT leader types. ;-)

Yeah, I'm not really much of a 'meta' type at the best of times, & then with all the hotness my brain kind of just melted. ;)

love, you know i like you a lot but think about my old cranky heart, now i can't help but think about xover with them and in my head they are doing some naughty things.... *blush*
Anyway i so love this post and it's so true, it's the reason that a lot of the mcshep/sga team fan are in love with Hawaii and the McDanno, we feel something familiar perhaps.

You rock! And yeah, the comparisons are all perfectly there, right down to what I think of as a "brat prince" attitude. Sometimes I think I really only have one fandom -- the brat prince/the 'poor soul who loves/tolerates/but isn't the easiest to get along with either' him.

Case in point:

John/Rodney
Steve/Danno
Jim Kirk/Bones
Dean/Castiel

Once I started with that initial image, I just began to see more similarities between the dynamics of the two relationships.
Plus, it wasn't exactly onerous to trawl through all those pics... ;)

You know what? You've got it right. I've been meandering around in the Merlin fandom since SGA went off air, and then Sherlock ate my brain this summer. But i had almost instant love of H5O because this dynamic is so similar, but it feels even MORE slashy at times than SGA was. yet not. *grin* The 'babe' comment this week just totally cemented it though, and we're only 10 eps in, WTF. XD

I'm glad that CBS is being good humored about the dynamic, as the Bromance promo showed us.(which means they probably wanna keep it) Plus the bonus of TEAM. I haven't had such a good team to watch since SGA too. It makes me happy and looking forward to mondays.

The dynamic definitely feels familiar & I love the sense of family that the team has (like in SGA.)

The slashy subtext is much more overt though with Steve & Danny, I agree. And yes - thank goodness the network seems happy to play along! \o/
