Hunting for Lord Lucan...

Okay, I wasn't actually hunting for him, but I was clearing out the cupboard under the stairs & wouldn't have been surprised to find him there! *g*
We're having a new boiler fitted on Monday & the guy has got to reroute a load of pipes or something & so needs access to the space.  It was a good excuse to de-clutter & I now have a black bag of rubbish plus one for the charity shop.
The boiler is being replaced (due to extreme, wheezing old age) but is also being moved from its current very impractical place in the kitchen up into the loft.  This is all in preparation for having a new kitchen fitted in January. Yay! The entire thing is going to be gutted & all new units & appliances put in (except for a couple of 'white goods' items that we're keeping & that are going behind cupboard doors.)  It's all very exciting.  The current kitchen was already in when we moved here (over 17 years ago - blimey!) & is definitely on its last legs.  I've never been able to design & choose a kitchen before & it's so cool. :)

On a completely different subject - voting is open at the People's Choice Awards & Supernatural is up for 3 awards:
+ fave scifi/fantasy show
+ fave dramatic TV actor (Both Jensen & Jared are nominated which makes me feel so mean to choose one - um, Jensen - over  the other. Sorry Jared! *feels bad*
+ fave TV fan following

You don't need to register & you can vote as often as you like.  Yay!  Let's support all of the shows that we love.

I've added everyone who contacted me about Dreamwidth & have also spent some time customising my journal. As my LJ is SGA-themed, I've gone for Spn for DW. *g*

Happy Saturday, folks!
*hugs*

If you please, could you add me too? Thanks.

Yay for a new kitchen! Although it's amazing what gets shoved into cupboards and forgotton about!

A new kitchen - how wonderful!!

And if you get a new 'hidden' boiler, too, it should look extremely smart!

A kitchen reno! Did you learn nothing from [personal profile] xanthe's trials and tribulations!?! Just kidding! I'm sure it will be fantastic. Go you and Mr. B! And Bud, of course! *g*

Also, just voted. :)

A new kitchen sounds pretty cool. How long did it take for you to decide on the design and finishes? I always think doing something like that would be so great until I realize how indecisive I'd probably be when it came down to the details. lol

What are 'white goods' items?

Done! :)

Oh, I know! I'm dreading (but sort of looking forward to, as well) having to empty the kitchen out ready for it to be done. I think there'll be a lot of stuff ready for the charity shop! :)

How are you feeling now? I hope things are better.
*hugs*

I'm so excited!
Yes, the boiler is currently in a wall cupboard in the kitchen so that means one less cupboard that I can actually use.
It'll be lovely to have it tucked away in the loft.

LOL I know! We actually both started with our kitchen plans at around the same time, but ours have taken way longer to finally get sorted. (Although Xanthe's are actually much more extensive - we're just have a new kitchen, there's no building work.)
I'm hoping that it'll go smoothly (famous last words! LOL)

Yay for voting! Go, Winchesters!

It's taken quite a while to get the design finalised but choosing the finishes was fairly painless - we went to the design team's workshop & looked at samples, etc. I did have a very clear idea of what I wanted, so I think that helped. :)

White goods are what we call big electrical items like the washer, dryer, fridge-freezer - that kind of thing. I think they're called that because originally they were all white - though now you can get all kinds of colours. Most of our white goods are black! LOL

That makes sense and now I've learned a new term; thank you!

OOOh Have fun.

I know it'll be a pain while the kitchen is actually being fitted (a couple of weeks with no kitchen & all the mess & fuss in the house) but I really think it'll be worth it. *fc*

I wasn't being snarky, getting the kitchen you really want is great. I have friends who've done it twice since I've known them (about 25 years at this point. I housesat for them during the first one--great excuse for lots of take away dinners. The second time they were home and found out exactly how much you can do with a microwave and a rice cooker. But the results are fabulous.

Oh, no - I'm sorry. I didn't think you were being snarky (& didn't mean to sound terse in reply!) I was just rambling on about the mess I know it'll cause - but I really do think it'll be worth it. And yes - I think our microwave will be getting more of a workout than it ever has during those couple of weeks! *g*
