So, this is one of my absolute favourite pics of John.
It just sends shivers through me.
*guh*

Then I noticed this...



Steve...

This pic of Steve sends exactly the same delicious shivers of guhness through me!

It got me thinking about the similarities between these two.

They're both honourable, duty-bound, military men who fight for what's right & save the galaxy and/or put bad guys away. And neither of them likes sticking to the rules.

They have family issues but care about the people who they've adopted as family...

They don't really talk about their feelings - but it doesn't mean they don't have them...

They can be kind of goofy...

They look really good without a shirt! (John's a bit shy but Steve doesn't have that problem... seriously, he takes it off. Every. Episode! *guh*)

They each have a scientist and/or partner...

Who's loud, talks a lot (usually with their hands, too) & who some and/or most people find irritating (though they both actually have a heart of gold)...

Rodney...

Danny...

They both look great in uniform...

And they're both hopelessly, head-over-heels in love...

So, in conclusion?
Well, I kind of got distracted by all the hotness, but basically - these guys are gorgeous & I love them! *g*
Sorry, if you were looking for in-depth analysis & well-reasoned argument, I lost that about the time John & Steve took their shirts off! ;)

I'm grateful that I'm not the only that's been thinking along these lines. (In my head Steve and John are practically the same person, except at some point one decided to deal with his Daddy issues by being PERFECT and embracing authority, while the other decided to buck the system as much as he could. Also head canon- Steve and John are somehow related and ran ops together in Afghanistan.)

In addition to the Steve/Danny & John/Rodney comparisons, I was also thinking about the fact that the other two members of the team in both cases are indigenous POC. This entire post is made of win, I wasn't the only one thinking there were similarities between John and Steven!

I think it took Steve and Danny to warm up to one another, while John and Rodney well, it was love at first sight.

(IMHO, John and Rodney are cuter, John is a bit more emotionally stunted than Steve. At least Steve has chemistry with women!)

Oh, and John is a much bigger dork. :)

Oh, yeah -- I've been noticing the parallels for some time now. And it goes beyond John and Rodney or Steve and Danny; there's the whole "Earth people are weird" / "Haoles are weird" thing between Teyla and Ronon / Chin and Kono.

I'm a huge fan of SGA (still!); perhaps this is why I find H50 so much fun -- there are *so many* similarities. But I'm thinking of some significant differences as well, chief among them that although Sheppard is still in the active-duty military and McGarrett is now a reservist, albeit only recently discharged, McGarrett seems so much less able to relax, and so much more *military*, than Sheppard.
