I've had the time of my life...
I'm home from an absolutely lovely weekend with
xanthelj.
We saw the musical of Dirty Dancing on Friday at the Aldwych Theatre. It was amazing! Yes, I did have 'the time of my life...'. *g*
I was wondering how it would transfer to the stage - but they literally did it scene by scene exactly as it is in the film. It was incredibly well staged & was just so lively & so much fun!
The guy playing Johnny is a ballet dancer & you could really tell - he was incredible! I've never seen dancing like it! His delivery was a little wooden but he 'spoke' so beautifully when he was acting with his body. Oh, & what a body! (Yep, I iz that shallow! *g*) He was perfect for the role, as was the actress playing Baby who was excellent. (Funnily enough, Xanthe & I had stopped in a nearby bakery for an after show cuppa & cake & she came in! We told her how much we'd enjoyed the show & she was so sweet - giving us a wave later as she went out with a huge box of cakes!)
Of course, seeing the show bought all of my 'Nobody puts Rodney in a corner!' ideas bubbling back after I wrote that silly ficlet ages ago! LOL We were discussing how perfectly John & Rodney could fit into DD which led to the idea that Gibbs & Tony could be in a reworked version of 'The Sound of Music' - Gibbs as Captain Von Trapp and Tony as Maria! ;-)
So, I promised Xanthe that if she ever writes 'The Sound of NCIS' then I'll write a full version of 'Dirty McShep Dancing'! LOL Be very afraid! *g*
So, I'm home now - back with my boys who I did miss a ridiculous amount considering I was only gone for two days! ♥
Oh, & a very happy birthday to
doylebaby - I hope you have a lovely day!
*hugs*

I've been wondering whether to go to see the stage version of DD and this has really helped make up my mind! I was wary of how it would compare with the film . . . but your comments have been really helpful!
I'm sure you got the welcome back you were expecting, too! :)

You could hear a pin drop in the theatre when Johnny strides over to the table & says that incredible line (the audience then erupted! *g*)

My mother and I always plan a weekend with a show in London in the summer, and as she enjoyed the film so much, I really think this might be the one . . .
Thanks again!
