More sewing...
I bought some gorgeous winter-themed fabrics when we were in Tennessee, & I've used some of it to make a pretty pleated-edge cushion for my mom.
There are two co-ordinated fabrics with birds & berries.
We don't get cardinals here in the UK, & I love to see them when we're on holiday.
The front of the cushion uses the main fabric, & the pleated edge & back use the co-ordinating design.

And BUDDY! SQUEE! He looks like a sealion here! HEE! And I must say he is looking particularly sleek and yummy and even more handsome than usual (is such a thing possible?!) in these shots :-). Of course, he KNOWS that!

I was sorting through my buttons & then realised that I'd got these two little pine cones & that they were perfect for this fabric.
It's the first time that I've made pleats & I'm quite pleased with how they've turned out.

That fabric is so adorable! I love it. Cardinals are indeed such pretty birds. And that is very fancy sewing, with the ruffles and all. The pinecone buttons add the perfect touch.

Cardinals are so beautiful - I was so excited the first time that we saw one in the US (still am, to be honest, every time.) We have some wonderful birds here but nothing so colourful on a kind of 'everyday' bird - if you know what I mean. :)

My Mom loves cardinals so I've made it for her as a little Christmas gift.
