Another Half-M
Registration opened yesterday morning at 9am for the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London this October.
After three & a half hours of frustration & the site constantly crashing due to the huge numbers trying to get a place, I was finally able to get places for me & Mr B!
We decided to run this race as all our attempts at getting places in the London Marathon have so far failed & we really liked the idea of doing a 'big' race like this around the gorgeous sights of London.
The route starts in Hyde Park & goes past the Houses of Parliament, along the Embankment up to Blackfriars, through Admirality Arch, down the Mall, past Buckingham Palace & through the Wellington Arch, back into Hyde Park past Marble Arch, into Kensington Park, past Kensington Palace & the Royal Albert Hall before finishing back in Hyde Park. It sounds amazing & should be loads of fun!
We're hoping to run this race to raise money for Labrador Rescue South East & Central - the rescue organisation we got our beautiful Buddy from! ♥

That picture just begs for a funny caption, too bad I can't come up with one.
I'm going to start converting your fic for Kindle (apparently you gave permission previously?) and was wondering: is the McShep memories on Starshinedreams all of your McShep fics? Or should I use the tags instead?

Oh, yay - you're doing my fics? Thank you so much.
*hugs*
I have tried to put all the fics in memories, so in theory the memories should match up with the mckay/sheppard tag. Um, in theory. *g*
I don't know if you're doing my little Hewligan series as well? That has it's own tag - http://community.livejournal.com/starshinedreams/tag/fates+universe (just in case you are. *g*)
I adore this pic of Bud - Xanthe took it when she was staying with us not long after we'd had Bud & he's lying against me on the floor. He looks so daft! ♥

Yep, I plan to convert all your stuff, but I'm gonna start with the McShep stuff first, since I don't think we have any SGA fic posted on the comm yet.
Do you have a Kindle? I just got one and dang, it is just the neatest thing! Kind of an expensive toy, but very, very cool.

I don't have a Kindle but I do have a BeBook which is a similar kind of thing I believe. It's so much easier to read than my old PDA - it actually looks like a printed page. :-)

I’m curious – and this is probably just plain ignorance, stupidity, etc. – but are there different kinds of Labradors? Buddy looks different than any labs I’ve ever seen before. Is there a difference between the European and USA variety?

I don't think that the European & North American Labs are different (not to my knowledge) but you do get two different kinds of Lab. There's the 'field' or 'working' type - like Rascal was. These tend to have 'pointier' faces & are quite lean, they're bred to be active working dogs for hunting, etc. (Though they also make fabulous family dogs!)
Rascal ♥ ...
Then there's the somewhat confusingly called 'English' or 'show' type (but you get these in the US too! *g*) - like Buddy. They have much squarer faces & are typically bred for the show ring.
Buddy is a really huge dog though - we seldom ever meet another Lab who even comes up to his shoulder! He has a big head & enormous paws! So that maybe why it's a bit confusing. *g*
Buddy ♥ ...

Will you be setting up a sponsorship page nearer the time? Hope so, or I'll make a donation direct to the LRSC&E.
*hugs*

Oh, thank you so much - yes, I'm hopefully going to set up a justgiving page for the run closer to the date. We really want to try & raise some funds for them as they're getting more & more dogs to rehome at the moment because of the financial climate. It costs nearly £300 to rehome each dog plus they have some who are abuse/neglect cases & they require a lot of medical care. It's such a good cause & we'll be forever grateful to them for uniting us with Buddy. ♥

We just love to run & it's a great way to try & raise funds for good causes. :-)

A big shiny beautiful monster :)
He makes Kane look little and he's a pitt bull/bull mastiff mix.
But buddy is super cute!

Rascal was a big Lab but even he wasn't the size of Bud!
Of course he's also a great big silly, softie of a boy. ♥
*cuddles for Kane*
