Buddy & the Mankiest Mouldiest Old Tennis Ball Ever
So, on with the continuing thrilling adventures of Buddy Walton... ;-)

There was one really funny thing that I forgot to mention the other day. It was Sunday lunch & I was setting the table & as my Mom was having lunch with us I needed more space, so I had to move the table centre (which is a large glass hurricane vase with a big pillar candle in it.) I put it on the floor up the corner & thought no more about it.
After lunch I was tidying up & noticed this thing on the floor - at first I thought it was a twig or something but when I picked it up it was bendy... & waxy. When I looked, I could see that the candle was completely undisturbed but no longer had its wick. Someone (I'm looking at you, Buddy Walton!) had delicately removed the wick & dropped it onto the floor.
Oh, Buddy! *g*
LOL What was that all about?
We took Buddy for his first check up with Jo last night & everything went really well. She loved him (of course!) & called him Baby Bunting (she used to call Rask, Angel Baby ♥) & all the nurses were making a big fuss of him too. I thanked them again for their kindness during Rask's last illness & we had a really nice chat. The one nurse (who'd come to the house that day) was so upset over him. It really is a wonderful practice. I was so touched to see that they'd put the card up that we'd sent them with Rask's photo in it. ♥
Buddy & I were doing some pruning down in the bottom part of the garden earlier. Well, I was pruning & Buddy was rummaging around & doing random barks at anyone who dared walk past our house. He found the mankiest, mouldiest, old tennis ball that must have been Rask's from years ago & proceeded to love it & carry it around everywhere. Oh, Buddy! *g*
When we were ready to go into the house I had to distract him with Angus the Reindeer & quickly put it in the bin (it was disgusting!)
King of all he surveys...

okay, maybe not so regal. *g*

It's hard work!

After the bait & switch to throw the Mankiest Mouldiest Old Tennis Ball Ever away, Bud was playing with Angus. Then he went over & dropped him right by Rascal's rose bush. It just made my heart melt a little.
*meep*

I told him this morning 'you're very easy to love' & he totally is. ♥
Of course it's not all roses - he's basically still a puppy but in this huge body & we've got to work on his behaviour a bit but he wants to please you so much. It's just that he can get over-excited & be a tad boisterous. ;-) But Rask was just the same at that age - they have all this energy to burn plus issues due to being rescues. I'm looking into some dog classes too - it'll be good for Buddy to socialise as he wasn't walked so never really met any other dogs. Though I want him to settle in properly first - it's too soon after the upheaval of the move.
He's lying sploshed out in the office doorway right now after working(!) in the garden & he's all tuckered out. This is fast becoming a favourite spot if I'm on the PC, though he has started using his bed which is just around the corner from the office (about 4 feet away.)
Bless!
With a (thankfully!) cleaner tennis ball...

With a couple of friends...

Oh, & please blame
dalehead for me posting so many pics. She wasn't too impressed with just the one yesterday. *g*

I do the garden myself - though it's mainly low maintenance, thank goodness.
Oh, & I found out today that Buddy doesn't like the mower - he tried to attack it. Oh, Buddy!
As I was on my own & scared he'd hurt himself I had to shut him in the conservatory where he could see me but be safe.
Next time I'll wait until Mr B is home & we can try some treat/lure training to hopefully break him of the habit!

Your garden is totally gorgeous, too. Very green and soothing and pretty. I want to just sit out there with a cup of tea and relax. ::sighs wistfully::

Thank you so much! I look after the garden myself, though thankfully it's pretty low maintenance. The pics are taken in the lower level of our back garden - it's pretty big (about 100 ft, I think, which is big for houses in the UK these days) but it's on a steep downward slope. We had it landscaped into terraces with an interconnecting winding pathway & have planted the beds with lots of shrubs & trees, not really 'flowers'. You can't see it here but there's a stone lion-head bench under the lilac tree which is a very soothing place to sit.
If you've ever in England come & have a cuppa with us! :-)

I'm happy to see that you found another wonderful doggie to help ease the pain of losing Rask.

He's a bundle of still-puppyish joy.
We can never replace Rask but it's good to have someone special to love again. ♥

He's so gorgeous!

He tried to bite the lawn mower today. I had to shut him in the conservatory where he watched & wailed at me all the time I cut the lawn! Next time I'll wait until Mr B is home too.

Honestly, he gets up to so many cute things.
That thing with the wick really takes the cake though. *g*

He's just such a sweet boy!
I love the pic of him in his little bed! *g*

He's an asbolute delight - though yes, he's a total live wire & very much into everything right now. He's very eager to please though & we're establishing rules & boundaries. He's adapting so well. ♥

I love the sound of a WUBBA though, must look out for one of those. *g*
Rask always *loved* squeakies so I think we're kind of immune to the noise now. ;-)

Honestly, I couldn't have dreamed that he'd settle in as well or as quickly as he is. He's just so very sweet & silly & seems to be so happy to be with us.
Thank you re the garden. It's fairly low maintenance but I am pleased to be able to do it by myself. Buddy is slowly gaining more confidence & will venture to the first level of the lower garden by himself now. But he'll only go all the way to the bottom if we're with him. *g*

I noticed on one of the earlier pictures you posted that Buddy was standing close to Rask's Rose - I wonder if he senses something . . .?
Anyway, he's so delightful and it's a joy to hear he's settling in so well. Good news from the vet, too!

Buddy had tremendous fun meeting Todd the black Lab this morning. It was a good, positive experience & I'm so happy as he's had so little experience meeting other dogs. he's very excited about other dogs though - just a bit too boisterous at times!
