Buddy & the Mankiest Mouldiest Old Tennis Ball Ever

So, on with the continuing thrilling adventures of Buddy Walton... ;-)

There was one really funny thing that I forgot to mention the other day. It was Sunday lunch & I was setting the table & as my Mom was having lunch with us I needed more space, so I had to move the table centre (which is a large glass hurricane vase with a big pillar candle in it.) I put it on the floor up the corner & thought no more about it.
After lunch I was tidying up & noticed this thing on the floor - at first I thought it was a twig or something but when I picked it up it was bendy... & waxy. When I looked, I could see that the candle was completely undisturbed but no longer had its wick. Someone (I'm looking at you, Buddy Walton!) had delicately removed the wick & dropped it onto the floor.

Oh, Buddy! *g*
LOL What was that all about?

We took Buddy for his first check up with Jo last night & everything went really well. She loved him (of course!) & called him Baby Bunting (she used to call Rask, Angel Baby ♥) & all the nurses were making a big fuss of him too. I thanked them again for their kindness during Rask's last illness & we had a really nice chat. The one nurse (who'd come to the house that day) was so upset over him. It really is a wonderful practice. I was so touched to see that they'd put the card up that we'd sent them with Rask's photo in it. ♥

Buddy & I were doing some pruning down in the bottom part of the garden earlier. Well, I was pruning & Buddy was rummaging around & doing random barks at anyone who dared walk past our house. He found the mankiest, mouldiest, old tennis ball that must have been Rask's from years ago & proceeded to love it & carry it around everywhere. Oh, Buddy! *g*
When we were ready to go into the house I had to distract him with Angus the Reindeer & quickly put it in the bin (it was disgusting!)

King of all he surveys...

okay, maybe not so regal. *g*

It's hard work!

After the bait & switch to throw the Mankiest Mouldiest Old Tennis Ball Ever away, Bud was playing with Angus. Then he went over & dropped him right by Rascal's rose bush. It just made my heart melt a little.
*meep*

I told him this morning 'you're very easy to love' & he totally is. ♥
Of course it's not all roses - he's basically still a puppy but in this huge body & we've got to work on his behaviour a bit but he wants to please you so much. It's just that he can get over-excited & be a tad boisterous. ;-) But Rask was just the same at that age - they have all this energy to burn plus issues due to being rescues. I'm looking into some dog classes too - it'll be good for Buddy to socialise as he wasn't walked so never really met any other dogs. Though I want him to settle in properly first - it's too soon after the upheaval of the move.

He's lying sploshed out in the office doorway right now after working(!) in the garden & he's all tuckered out. This is fast becoming a favourite spot if I'm on the PC, though he has started using his bed which is just around the corner from the office (about 4 feet away.)
Bless!

With a (thankfully!) cleaner tennis ball...

With a couple of friends...

Oh, & please blame [livejournal.com profile] dalehead for me posting so many pics. She wasn't too impressed with just the one yesterday. *g*

He's just such a sweet boy!

I love the pic of him in his little bed! *g*

I have been remiss in commenting, but I've followed your posts about Buddy and have enjoyed them very much - especially the pictures! I know you and Mr. B are thrilled to have him - even if he's probably the equivalent of a "terrible two" year old. I'm just so happy that you found him and it truly seems to be a case of love at first sight or bark or, you know. Bless you, sweetie!

I'm so happy to see Buddy pictures and stories! I too have to confiscate tennis balls or they turn into the slobberiest piles of formerly yellow goo I've ever seen. I have a new favorite toy for the monster - a WUBBA. It's about the same size as a tennis ball but it has streamers (tentacles???) and it squeaks. If you can handle the noise, it's a nice change from the tennis ball...you can pick it up by the legs!

I will never complain about too many Buddy pics and stories. :) I love hearing all about your adventures and seeing photos of him. He's just so adorable!

I love the continuing adventures of Buddy Walton, he is so cute.

He loves a tennis ball - he walks around with it in his mouth & manages to bark & pick up other toys without dropping it! LOL

[identity profile] bluespirit-star.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! He really is cute. ♥

Hee! Thank you.
Honestly, he gets up to so many cute things.
That thing with the wick really takes the cake though. *g*

He has three beds but he's still sleeping next to our bed for now. We're not forcing him - & he is spending more time in his upstairs bed so he seems to be feeling more secure. :-)

[identity profile] bluespirit-star.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you!
He's an asbolute delight - though yes, he's a total live wire & very much into everything right now. He's very eager to please though & we're establishing rules & boundaries. He's adapting so well. ♥

This particular ball must have been down the garden for years & was just slimy & dripping. Uuugggh!
I love the sound of a WUBBA though, must look out for one of those. *g*
Rask always *loved* squeakies so I think we're kind of immune to the noise now. ;-)

Aww, thank you!
*hugs*

He's like a breath of fresh air. I feel so much brighter since he's arrived. This past month had been awful.
*hugs*

Yay! I think he'll get into plenty more scrapes to report - he's an Adventurer Extraordinaire, after all! *g*

How lovely.

I am really enjoying these posts.

It's been wonderful to catch up on all the "Oh buddy!" news. I'm so glad he's settling in happily and you are all making your family unit. Love the photos and your garden is spendiferous! I love it! And that one pic of being King of all he surveys is superb ... even the lolling tongue *g*

[identity profile] betagoddess.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)

I'm sure he'll soon feel completely secure with you two loving him so much! *g*

Heeee! Much cuteness. I'm glad you've got a great vet. We've had a reaally bad one in the past, who was obviously just in it for the money. He caused my poor cat agony when he put her down and didn't bat an eyelash. Still damn angry about that. I was so pleased when my parents changed vets as their new vets are great.

*joins Dalehead in requesting more pics! more!*

I noticed on one of the earlier pictures you posted that Buddy was standing close to Rask's Rose - I wonder if he senses something . . .?

Anyway, he's so delightful and it's a joy to hear he's settling in so well. Good news from the vet, too!

:)

Thank you!
Honestly, I could post all day long - he's always up to something & being totally adorable about it too. *g*

[identity profile] bluespirit-star.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, L.
Honestly, I couldn't have dreamed that he'd settle in as well or as quickly as he is. He's just so very sweet & silly & seems to be so happy to be with us.

Thank you re the garden. It's fairly low maintenance but I am pleased to be able to do it by myself. Buddy is slowly gaining more confidence & will venture to the first level of the lower garden by himself now. But he'll only go all the way to the bottom if we're with him. *g*
