Marathon update
It's just under 6 weeks to the London Marathon.
\o/
My training is going well - despite the problem with my knee - & I ran 15 miles yesterday on my 'long' run.
My physio has given me some more strengthening exercises, & I've bought a pair of 'stability' running shoes. The problem with my knee (a mal-tracking patella) is caused by my foot (well, feet *g*) pronating & rolling inward slightly as I run (& walk). I've always had neutral running shoes in the past, but I suppose things change over time & now that this problem has occurred I need some that will help correct my gait. I went & got tested & in the end I bought a pair of Asics GT 2150s. I wore them yesterday for the first time on a long run, & they felt great. My knee felt pretty good (well it hurt but it was manageable) & it's not too bad today either. So, fingers crossed that between the exercises & the Asics my knee won't get any worse. *g*
The plan my physio & I have come up with is for me to get through the marathon & then take some time off (a few months if need be) from running while the cartilage heals. I'm going to be using the bike to maintain my fitness & then hopefully I won't have too much work to do when I get back to running.
Mmmm, having this running partner would definitely be... inpirational. ;-)
Mmmmm, very inspirational.

I found a great running podcast - Marathon Talk. It's a weekly magazine style show made by Martin Yelling (Liz Yelling's husband) & Tom Williams. They have great tips, running news, guests of the week, etc. Each one lasts an hour & a bit, so I'm listening to a couple on my long runs. You can subscribe for free at iTunes or DL the mp3 from the site.
It's not exactly John Sheppard, but it's good motivation. *g*
Our fundraising is going really well - thank you to everyone who's donated! We're so grateful!

I hope you get sorted okay at the weekend. I've always favoured Saucony running shoes, but I really like this pair of Asics (in fact I've ordered a second pair just for walking around in to try & correct my gait all of the time! *g*)

It would be easier without the knee issue but I'm determined to do it.
