I ♥ romance

In response to [livejournal.com profile] seperis's excellent post here, a new rec comm has been started called [livejournal.com profile] ownurshame - specifically for rec'ing romance fic (in any fandom).

I think this is a great idea - my only quibble is that I don't feel that enjoying any fic (whatever the genre) is a guilty pleasure; I have no shame about what I enjoy. I own my choices. :-)

As I've got older I've tried to stop worrying so much & have adopted what I like to think of as the 'Fried Green Tomatoes' approach. You know the scene, where Kathy Bates's character Evelyn is cut off in a parking lot by a couple of girls...

Evelyn: Hey! I was waiting for that spot!
Girl #1: Face it, lady, we're younger and faster!
[Evelyn rear-ends the other car]
Girl #1: What are you doing?
Girl #2: Are you crazy?
Evelyn: Face it, girls, I'm older and I have more insurance.

*wink*

So yes, I enjoy romance. I love possessive, growly John staking his claim on his Rodney & that true love is forever & that you can find the other half of your soul. ♥

Note: if you're nodding & thinking 'me too' & haven't read [livejournal.com profile] xanthelj's 'Coming Home' then read it now. *g*
